Centro PyME, a governmental organization, established a Technological Assistance and Development Program whose main goal is to systematize, in a first stage, the issues related to the cultivation of Pleurotus Ostreatus mushroom. As of this program, promotion and coordination measures for technological development were posed. These measures aim at introducing technological innovations in production and transfer processes in agricultural sectors devoted to the cultivation of edible mushrooms.
The “Promotion and Development Program for Edible Mushroom Cultivation” which has been enforced successfully for more than four years, associates directly the production sector with the scientific and technological advances made in the Investigation and Service Centre for Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms Production. This feature also constitutes the response to a model that emphasizes the economic competitiveness among production units in relation to technological patterns of production. The global impact the program shows is:
- Income sustainable growth from a sustainable production unit
- Investment growth in each production unit
- Social development
